“So I'm at the farmers market, and I'm standing at this booth with a woman who's selling a whole bunch of organic tree fruit-- she has wonderful peaches and nectarines and cherries.

This woman walks up to her and asks, "Excuse me, do you know if there's anyone here selling food?"

The vendor sort of looks at her like she's lost her mind.

The woman says, "You know, like for eating."

What do you say to that?”

Someone as clueless as that wouldn't even be worth a quick slap to the forehead...it wouldn't penetrate.

Merely suggest to her that the nearest Wendy's is down the road, she might have more good fortune there.

Yeah, I think she wanted some sort of prepared food.

The booth owner wound up pointing to the stall about two down, which was the start of the "cooked stuff to eat right now" section.

See, I don't eat fruit, it's never appealed to me in any way. I can appreciate a nice fresh fruit for the entity that it is, and can purchase very good fresh victuals when need be, but I seldom eat fruit myself.

That said, the woman is an idjit and needs to be directed to a McDonalds post-haste, before she infects others with her stupidity.

I think she must have been too hungry to express herself better.

She must have been looking for prepared food on a styrofoam plate with a plastic fork and knife. Or maybe a burrito, empanada or naan. The farmers market by the Embarcadero in SF has a few stalls like that. So does the one on Allemany, but not the organic farmers market close to my house on 24th street.

Even though the vendor was selling fruit, I think she would have wanted to wash the fruit before she considering eating it. Too much work.
