Dear Lazyweb:

I'm looking for a gadget. In particular, I'm looking for something similar to the Ambient Orb or Nabaztag, but cheaper. Basically, I want a glowing multicolored light that's computer-controllable, maybe USB, and that has an API that I can get to.

Basically, I want to parse an RSS feed and turn a light different colors based on the results. I don't mind building or modifying something myself if necessary.

Anyone know of anything?

A bit of overkill, but

looks like it will do what you want (and a lot more).

I haven't used this, or shopped around (I see a used one on ebay for $18 ($35 buy it now) with no bids and 2 days left), just saw your post and saw this, so thought it might fit.

Total overkill in the completely wrong direction and I'm not even sure why I am mentioning this other than they look kinda cool and I imagine you could use it and it is way more versatile blah blah blah and why am I still talking and why haven't I just suggested it and slinked back into my hole and why is something so far from what you wanted occupying so much of my time I have no idea but here it is...

Did you ever find a solution? If not, take a look at this.
