It looks like LiveJournal email addresses are somehow being acquired by spammers.

As always, I use tagged addresses for websites. A couple of months ago, I noticed that lj-addr1@mydomain had started getting spam-- not a lot, but a little bit. When that happened, I changed it to lj-addr2@mydomain. As of December 27, that second address is getting spammed.

This mail is not going through LiveJournal itself-- it's going straight to the unique email address that I have on my LJ account. That address has never been used for anything but LiveJournal.

I'm fairly new to LG, but haven't received any spam (at least not yet).

I also use a unique address to track where things come from - sometimes it surprises me where the spammers are watching, or where they are getting their info from.

I guess it wouldn't surprise me to hear of the addresses being sold, probably not by 6A but perhaps through SUP? On the other hand, that's likely my inner voice wanting it to be true. I really don't think 6A would do something like this personally.

There's also the rogue employee option. I have records of addr1@ receiving spam as early as mid-October, and I believe it started earlier than that. I have no idea when SUP got address to the whole database.

I'd report it.
