Subject:Gas price bet
Time:09:54 pm
I made a $100 bet with one of my coworkers today. The bet is on whether the US national average price of regular unleaded gasoline will exceed a certain price before the end of the year. I'm pretty sure I got way the best of it on this bet, but I'm curious as to what you think.

What do you think the highest price of gasoline (as specified above) will be this year?

I just read an interesting analysis on CNN "Why the Oil Boom Will Eventually Bust", what do you think?

He makes some good arguments, but...

Demand should start to decline as well, albeit gradually... Sales of big cars are collapsing; Americans are cutting down on driving. The airlines are scaling back flights.

He provides no proof of any of this. His examples are anecdotal and based on headlines in the US. Is *global* energy demand, both near-term and long-term, really expected to decline? I don't think so.

Interesting that (so far) the poll results look like a binomial distribution.
