Subject:Make these lamps less hideous?
Time:10:07 pm
A few years ago, I lost my mind and bought three Twisted Seven Floor Lamps for my loft. This was neither sane nor rational behavior, and I have no idea what came over me, but the deed is done.

Rather than tossing them out on their twisted ears, I want to try to make them less hideous. I think a big part of the problem is that the proportions are all wrong-- the light heads should be bigger, and the trunk should either be wider or shorter.

Maybe if I wrapped some sort of shade around the heads? Wire mesh, maybe? I have no clue.

I'd want to take florist materials and make it look like a tree, with lights in it.

Cn I ask what those are in your icon? Whatever they are they are so fascinating looking. I think I want them! LOL

I was thinking the same thing with decorating it, making it look like an indoor plant with lights or something?

It is an ecclectic piece of furniture for sure!

I really don't think it's the proportions, those seem okay. Honestly, if you make the heads bigger you're going to wind up with more of a monstrosity. Maybe you should put decorations on them instead, like ribbons or tinsel or something. Or coats. :)

my first thought is little hydra heads, but i think that's really not the look you're going for.

how about putting a couple of notches in a small table so you can have the light coming out of the middle of a table, or a round shelf mounted partway up the light post. it turns it into a slight different piece of furniture, but it functionally changes the entire aspect ratio of the lamp.

I'm afraid I can't help - I like them the way they are! If you give up on the lamps, let me know. I'd be happy to remove them for you and give them a nice new home.

How's the 5dmii? Have you taken any interesting photos with it? World Peace can't be far behind!

Actually, that might work best. It doesn't solve the dining room light problem, but I can cope with that in some other way.
