jnala "Perish like a fading horse" isn't what you think it is.

slfisher #3 is what you asked.

rmd1023 Very close on #3. Miles off on #11.

essaying *almost* right on #5.

I can tell who the musical people are on my list. I'm a little disappointed that nobody got #8, since lots of my friends should know it. #18 too, but in a totally different way.

And I'm happy to say that I woke up to lots of video of kittens exploring the world. They wandered around, ate, drank, peered into the dryer, used both litter boxes, pounced on each other, and generally had a grand good time exploring the world. Although I didn't catch it on video, someone knocked the toothpaste off the counter. I promise I'm not going to turn into one of those annoying pet owners who photographs and films every tiny little thing and shares it with a disinterested world, but... OK, for a couple of days maybe.

I would love a quick rundown on your setup for the cam. I've been thinking about doing something like this in my kids room just to see how they are sleeping. Is there a lot of latency between when the movement starts and the cam starts?

It's a crappy old Creative webcam that I had sitting around, and the software that came with it. I don't honestly know how much latency there is, but I'm guessing it's less than a second. That might depend on the size of the movement.

I have it set up to react when there's movement and keep recording for 60 seconds. That's configurable. It writes to a local directory on the laptop I'm using, then I eyeball that directory from another machine on the network.

It's all pretty low-tech and unremarkable. Any dumb little webcam should be able to do it.

I misread "peering into the dryer" as "peeing into the dryer". I thought you took it with good humor.

Knowing that jnala knows that song, just what does "perish like a fading horse" mean?
