Anyone interested in buying my bicycle? Or one of my motorcycles?

Edit: So far two nibbles on the motorcycle, one on the bicycle. Two of the three seem sincere. The other seems like a nutbar. He wrote, "still available and good condition, if yes mail me back immediatelly...... okay?" I described it as "It's been abused by neglect, thieves, and the DPT". Does that sound like good condition to you?

No Ducati? That one I might be interested in...

On the EX, you might post it to racing forums, back when I did some track riding it was a popular entry level bike.

Nope. The Ducati is (very slowly) being restored. The EX is just sitting in the garage gathering dust.

I've already gotten one nibble through Craigslist.

Instead of selling the bike, you could just get new handlebars put on it, bars that come up and back so you can sit upright and not lean on your hands. E.g.

http://cgi.ebay.com/7-8-Ape-Hanger-Handle-Bars-Chopper-XS650-CB750-12-Mini_W0QQitemZ160363191237QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2556641bc5

The problem with selling and then buying is that if you buy a used one, you run the risk that someone passes off a bike with serious maintenance issues - e.g. it went to Burning Man. You aren't likely to find a decent new one (that won't break in some probably-not-covered-by-warranty fashion within a year) for anywhere near what you are asking for the one you are selling. At best you might find a bike-shaped-object.

That's OK. I don't expect to take exactly the cash that I get for selling the bike and turn it into a new bike. Besides, the cost of new bars plus cables and the hassle associated with doing a swap make buying a new bike a better choice for me.

And I'd really rather have something that's designed for the geometry I want rather than retrofitting something that isn't.
