weather
That's the current weather and forecast for Oakland. Light rain in this case means that cold, misty sort of rain that you know was snowflakes just before it hit you, and lots of it. 49 degrees seems a bit optimistic, or maybe it just feels that way because of the cold wind blowing in off of the bay.

How do I know this? Well, you see, it's like this... I've decided to start running again. I'm repeating C25K, and this time I'm going to do it outdoors like a normal person, at least for a little while while I see how it goes. To prove to myself that I really mean it, I decided that I didn't care what the weather was like-- I was going running. It's not at all clear to me whether this was a brilliant move or an insane one

In any case, I finished. I was cold and wet when I was done, but it wasn't all that difficult. Maybe I've finally learned to pace myself?

Your sample size is too small to make that determination.

However, a good run is a good run. Congrats!

Congrats on kick starting your C25K program!!! 49 degrees with a mist sounds lovely for running -- my kind of weather!

I have the C25K livejournal feed on my page and enjoy reading people's progress you might want to check it out.

Welcome to winter!

We'll get to drink it in just four months.

Exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxcellent.

40s are perfect for running. You'll start accruing the right gear and what's going on outside will make no matter. I went out in 15* last night without thinking twice. Non-runners don't believe it, but after the first 5 minutes that was the warmest I was all day. As it gets cold make sure your hands and ears are covered. Spikes or Yaktrax for snow. I use the spikes which are good on ice as well.

Ah, forgot where you are. Well, strike that, I know more or less you're in or around SFO. I know it's warmer than the NE, and sometimes shakes violently, but I wasn't aware that it never snowed there. Every day, learn something new.

I've been here since 95. We get flakes sometimes, and I remember seeing half an inch of snow once, but never is a good approximation.

Ironically, your weather was the same as what I was getting in Idaho.

As far as getting flakes sometimes, I've lived in California. You get flakes *lots* of times.
