Things that don't go well together

ADD and unpacking boxes of books do not mix well.

Unpack unpack unpack... oooh, I haven't seen this book for a long time! No, I can't stop to read right now. Unpack unpack unpack... hey, I didn't know I owned this! Later, gotta keep working. Unpack unpack unpack... hey, I've been looking for this!

I've given in to about one book per box, on average. I guess that's not so bad, but it really isn't conducive to getting everything unboxed and shelved.

It's been a highly domestic weekend. I had my new sofa delivered, and gave the old sofa and loveseat away. The new sofa is 8' long and has two chaise lounges built into it. It's a big fluffy leather thing that's unbelievably comfortable-- all I want to do is curl up in it with a book. And when Clarence sheds on it, as he set to work doing just minutes after it arrived, it's easy to clean.

Homemade macaroni and cheese bears only the most superficial resemblance to the boxed stuff that kids think of as the real thing these days. I made enough to freeze four or five dinners worth, and it was good!

I have a love-hate relationship with Ikea-- I generally dislike big box retail, and I hate the mass market sameness of their stuff. On the other hand, they're a great source of cheap shelves, and I have a shelf fetish. I made a run yesterday, and came back with a gazod of shelves, which I put together today. Injuries: one gash on my hand, one small bump on my head. Not bad, since klutziness and assemble-it-yourself furniture really don't go well together.

Once I get all the books unpacked, I'm going to reward myself with a LoveSac.

Because the books are all jumbled into boxes, I'm unpacking them into piles before I start shelving them. The piles are:
  • Reference books
  • Cookbooks
  • Computer books
  • Poker books
  • Other game books
  • General nonfiction
  • General fiction
  • BDSM fiction (i.e. porn)
  • BDSM nonfiction
  • Non-BDSM porn
  • Non-BDSM sexuality nonfiction

Guess which pile is biggest?
