It was clear and sunny when I got to the parking lot, and there were maybe half a dozen people in the area. By the time I got down to the cranes, maybe a quarter of a mile away, I started feeling a couple of stray raindrops, though it was still sunny.
There was no ship at the closest berth, but there was one very close by. I started shooting, and by the time I was done it had started to rain for real. I tucked the camera in a dry pocket and started making my way back to the car. Within a minute, I was in the middle of an all-out storm-- thunder, lightning, pouring rain, and sleet. Sleet! By the time I got back to the car, I was soaked through to the skin. I drove home in near-flash-flood conditions.
By the time I covered the three miles back to my loft, it was sunny.
