I bought a bed

After mulling over options and everyone's suggestions, I went back to the store today and plonked myself down on every mattress that I thought might be workable. I finally made my way back to one of the three I was initially looking at, the shortest of the three, and curled up for about ten minutes. I bought it. My rationale was that I didn't think I'd find anything that was appreciably thinner that was as comfortable-- I'm not a big fan of memory foam beds, and when I slept on a futon for about a year I didn't much care for it.

I was right that the salesman is a huge geek. While we were completing the transaction we managed to discuss politics, dungeons & dragons, science fiction, hard drive prices, and photography. He's a geek with people and sales skills, though-- a rare combination.

Have you ever wondered to yourself, "What kind of person impulse buys plantains?" Your wait is over-- it's me.

Fucking DMV! They've just notified me that they intend to suspend my old Mitsubishi because they don't have proof of insurance. Yes, the car I traded in. Plus, their online system for dealing with it doesn't seem to have a way to say, "I no longer own this vehicle." Grrr.

I think I've figured out that I'm allergic to Downy fabric softener. To be precise, I've figured out that I'm allergic to Free & Sensitive Downy, the stuff that they make for people who allergic to their normal stuff. I guess I never do things the way normal people do. I already knew from an escapade last year that I was allergic to regular Downy.

I suspect that it's actually a formaldehyde allergy, but I'm not certain.
