Every time I fire up photoshop, I feel like the world's biggest bumbling idiot. I really have no clue what I'm doing, and there's so much functionality there that all I can ever really do is hack about and if I'm lucky I might stumble into something that isn't a total abomination. Mostly I just feel like it should be taken away from me and they should give me a box of the big fat primary-color crayons that kindergarteners use.
But I'm still hacking about, and playing with San Francisco skyline night shots. This week I learned a new technique. Here's the raw image with no processing:

The key bit of coolness is that the water looks like something other than inky blackness.
