I completely redesigned my home network before I went to bed last night, and managed to get all the pieces in place so that I can move the servers into the storage room, and the only hardware I need to add to the mix is a single hundred-foot-long ethernet cable.

Or so I thought. When I got up this morning, I realized that I forgot about power. OK, one cable and one UPS. OK, I can get a 1285 va UPS for a hundred bucks. That's still a small price to pay for quiet.

Next stop on the loft-shoveling agenda: the storage room. It's scary in there!
