There are 65 players left, and I have 89200 in chips. Par is just a hair under 40K, so I'm in pretty decent shape. I'm guaranteed something like $3K, but of course I'm hoping to do much better. Play resumes at 2 p.m.
The strategy for this event is pretty simple: build up something of a stack. Once you do, don't put more than about 20% of your chips at risk unless you're in really good shape. Don't do anything really stupid, and don't get sucked out on if your stack goes in. You mostly don't have to be especially clever... just don't be especially dumb. There are certainly some competent players, but they're mostly predictable.
I've picked off a couple of bluffs (and missed a big one, but I might not have called even if I'd seen her hand) and mostly not lost many showdowns. I've had a couple of bizarre hands, but mostly they've been amazingly straightforward.
Thanks for all the good wishes! I can't answer everybody personally, but I'm reading all of the comments during breaks. I really do enjoy having a distributed cheering section.
