I've been coveting a lens for a while-- a Canon MP-E 65mm 1x-5x macro lens. The thing is bloody amazing-- the farthest away it will focus creates a 1x macro image (that means that the image on the film/sensor is exactly life-sized) and goes up to 5x. At 5x magnification, you can get a detailed look at a grain of pollen.
A few days ago I spotted a slightly-used one at a good price from a reputable dealer, and the fingers engaged before I could stop them-- I ordered it. It arrived yesterday, and this is the first shot I've taken with it. The image has serious issues-- it's definitely not a keeper-- but I'm extremely happy to have the new toy.
