I have mixed feelings about the Blue Angels. At one level, they put on a very cool show, and it's truly amazing to watch them do maneuvers in tight formation at high speed. On the other hand, what they really are is a display of big swinging dick military might, and that really bothers me.
Besides, they're expensive. According to their website, they burn 3.1 million gallons of fuel per year. Standard jet fuel runs about $2.50-3/gallon, and I suspect that these babies eat super duper stuff with an appreciably larger price tag. Let's be conservative and say three bucks a gallon. That's over nine million dollars a year just for fuel.
