Random London notes

Oxford Street is decorated in its holiday finery-- lots of lights, including giant lighted snowflakes that stretch across the street. It's really quite lovely. Last night as I walked up to Oxford, I overheard two guys in front of me:

Guy #1: It's magical!
Guy #2: Ugh.

I see both sides of that one quite clearly.

The battery life on my laptop completely and utterly does not suck. I've been using it for two and a half hours, and it's at 50%.

The hotel wifi is craptacular, though.

Shouted at me from a car in Covent Garden this afternoon: "Hey, rock star!"

And some guy just came up to me, commented on my hair, and then tried to drag me down to the bar so he could buy me a drink.

I ran into a street performer in Covent Garden today. He did a goofy-assed military act with lots of not-so-subtle gay overtones, but the finale was him escaping from a straitjacket. It was a standard Posey jacket, and while I didn't look at it closely I didn't see any obvious ways that it was tricked. I think his loophole was that it was too big-- he pulled an arm loose pretty quickly. Still, it was fun to watch. I suspect he got about 40-50 quid from the crowd, too.

I found a Scotch I've never heard of before-- Arran.
