I should be framing and packing, but I'm procrastinating. Actually, I took a dinner break and posted this while I was eating, so it's OK.

Is it OK to use bacon mayonnaise on a BLT?

Hell yes!
21(51.2%)
No That's just wrong.
9(22.0%)
Oh man. Why didn't I think of that?
11(26.8%)

Is it OK to put onions on a BLT?

Sure, why not?
23(57.5%)
Sometimes, for variety, but don't make it a habit
7(17.5%)
Do not mess with the sacred BLT
10(25.0%)

How much bacon do you put on a BLT?

Two strips
1(2.5%)
Three strips
14(35.0%)
Four strips
16(40.0%)
More than four strips
4(10.0%)
The whole pound
1(2.5%)
The bacon is gone before the sandwich gets made
4(10.0%)

There's no option anywhere in this poll for saying that you wouldn't eat a BLT

Of course not!

BLTs have something in them that is utterly vile, and that's the tomato.

So, I wouldn't eat one at all, but your theories are certainly all plausible.

You know, I thought that for a long time but in the past year or two I have started to like tomatoes. It's kind of weird.

Tomatoes processed or cooked in some way are usually fine. But raw tomatoes do absolutely nothing for me, so I prefer not to eat them.

Plus it lets me say things like, "Oh no, I don't eat tomatoes. Nast alien larva pods, they are. I mean, look, they even have that royal jelly stuff in 'em. Eeew."

:) Awesome.

(Home grown tomatoes do taste WORLDS better than the bulk grown stuff usually available. Just sayin'. I understand boycotting them anyway.)

When I order a BLT, I take the bacon off. If you're there, I give it to you.

You give away bacon? You can be my friend any time.

Patti and I have a standing deal. She gets my bacon, and I get her avocado.

Mmmm, avocado on a BLT would be righteous.

OOOhh - before my surgery I'd be all over making that deal with Patti. Sadly I now can medically justify eating bacon. Not my favorite food in the world but edible.

Bacon! Fich doesn't just give away bacon; he has been known to give away single-malt scotch whiskey! (This provided the occasion of one of the kids sitting around the campfire to say, "Hey, the old man has the good stuff!")

If bacon mayonnaise is wrong, I don't want to be right. Can you post the recipe you used?

Also, I cannot eat raw tomatoes. Instead of a BLT I eat grilled cheese with bacon. Or grilled peanut butter with bacon.

grilled peanut butter with bacon - just wrong!! Needs to be a survey for that one.

There can be no greater sin than corrupting bacon with the evilness that is peanut butter.

one egg yolk
3/4 teaspoon dijon mustard (too much! I'd use more like 1/4 teaspoon)
one teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup liquid but not hot bacon fat
salt and pepper to taste

Pretend that you're making regular mayo... you're just using bacon fat as the oil. It thickens when it cools, so you may want to add a bit of water as well.

Instead of mayo, do the following while your bacon is cooling and degreasing:

Render bacon fat (or use a taste of olive oil if you object to using up the bacon fat).
Smash 10-12 grape tomatoes in half.
Reduce smashed tomatoes in bacon fat.
Remove from heat, mix tomato paste with about a quarter of an avocado, mash until consistence is usable as mayo.
Now you have tomato-avocado stuff to make your BLT wet; it's both healthier and tastier for my money.

If you add onion to a BLT it is no longer a BLT, but instead a BOLT.

And if you added avocado to that, it would be a BALTO.

BLT + Avocado is a BLAT. Since that sounds as gross as putting avocado on a BLT is, it should not be done. I mean really... "Here, would you like some blat?" "Uhh, no."

If I wanted a BLT bacon mayo sounds really good. I am more likely to have an ALT though.
