Subject:Kitty playtime!
Time:10:13 pm
We just had the best kitty playtime. I found the breakthrough toy, at least for her. It's the red bug, a.k.a. the laser pointer. It only took a few minutes before she was following the bug around and then pouncing on it and trying to eat it. There was much purring. We played for about 20 minutes, then I opened a can of cat food, put it in a bowl, and put it close to me. I led her to it with the red bug, and she happily had dinner sitting about a foot away from me.

When she was done I put the food bowl in front of him, and then ignored him. He cautiously came out and had some dinner, but is far more skittish.

We had a post-prandial round of hunt the red bug, and they both seemed to be at least a little bit interested in hunting under the door for the red bug. He's pretty freaked out by me, and mostly hides when I'm around, but she's starting to get over it I think.

Now I want a web-controlled laser pointer.

Now I want a web-controlled laser pointer.

One of our cats likes the Red Bug just a little too much.

As in, stands around looking for it, hours after it's been put away.

As in, "could star in an episode of Intervention".

*I* watch it, even though my spousal unit does not. (He finds it depressing; I find it compelling).

I've told Eric that he cannot allow Boo (that's our black Scottish Fold) to get "laser treatment" more than biweekly. Poor Boo.

Congrats on the new kitties. It's looks like they really enjoy each other's company, and will come to enjoy yours as well!!

I've heard of a few other folks whose pets (cats and dogs, in fact) have OCD problems with OMG THE RED DOT. one suggestion i've heard is to always have the red dot disappear after leading the animal to a treat on the floor. That way, they get to feel like they've caught it, as opposed to never being able to catch this thing they're chasing.
