Since the kittens arrived, she's been the one who has been willing to come out and explore and play when I'm around. She's the one who was willing to attack the red bug and chase it around the room. She's the first one who was willing to come sit next to me and eat.
For the last couple of days, I've been sitting with them while they ate, and moving the food bowl closer to me each time. It didn't take long until they would both sit right next to me and eat, and I could even get away with petting them while they ate. As soon as they were done eating, though, that was it for the big scary person hand.
Tonight I managed to get him to pay attention to the red bug for a little bit. Not much, but a little.
And then, as I was about to leave the room, I decided to reach my hand down and see what he would do. Much to my surprise, he leaned into it and asked me to pet him. We had a good five to ten minutes of petting, with him even rolling over on his back so I could rub his belly, and licked my fingers briefly. Wow! Since he always hides when I come in, I was not expecting that turn of events.
She's still feeling me out, but she's starting to sniff at me and not run away quite so much.
And I promise that I'll stop being the crazy cat blogger lady as soon as I've made friends with both of them.
