Hasselblad is now making a 200 megapixel camera. Yes, 200. They do it with a measly 50MP sensor, and then move the sensor around to get higher resolution. I can't possibly justify (or afford) it, but I soooooo want one. Can you imagine the flower porn I could do with that camera and a macro lens? I could do flower porn billboards!

It's in today's B&H email newsletter. Giving a price of $44,000.

That's a nice safe thing to covet!

I wonder if anyone will rent them. Might be worth a few hundred for a weekend.

Probably, but it's cost-prohibitive. Here's an H4D-50 kit:

$703.50 for a four-day rental.

That's expensive, but not completely cost prohibitive. Way better to drop $700 on it to get a taste than to take a second mortgage to buy one.

I've used an H4D-50. Hrmm, it might have been a 40 or a 60, but I think it was a 50. Let's just say that doing that didn't make me want it any less.

Does it by taking 6 pictures during a 30 second period. (6x50=200?)

Other than taking pictures of completely motionless objects in a studio, doesn't have a lot of applications. Who would be the target market for this thing?

High-end product photography, mostly. It's also really great for doing super high-res images of fine art.

You can clearly see the seat stitching on the Mercedes. The Tate Gallery photos are amazing.

You could also just spend the $44K on a Mercedes and look at the stitching all you want. ;-)
